How about a screen capture tool?

Anyone can give me some advice on a screen capture tool? It makes me tied to always use "Print Screen" key to make screenshots. I have found one at http://www.etrusoft.com
It seems good to use and also very cheap. But any other suggestions? Thank you! :-)

Hello and welcome to TechIMO!

I use AnalogX Capture. It's small, configurable and... free

Ace Screen Capture 2.15 is what I use. I think it's pretty good. It's only the 3rd sc tool i've tried so you may find better. It's not a FreeWare program so it can't be all that bad ($25)

I know a lot of people use Irfanview. I've never tried it for screen capture, but I see it posted from time to time so maybe it's worth a shot.

I just ried IrfanView and it works quite well. What's the best format to save in considering size and quality?

Hmm... didn't realize IrfanView can also do screen captures. I just tried it out and it does work quite well. Useful for those times (rarely for me) when you need more control over the output than AnalogX Capture provides.

I usually save in .jpg/.jpeg format and adjust the compression ("Save Quality" in IrfanView) slider under save Options depending on the quality/size ratio I need at the time.

I was using MWSnap3 for this, but after trying Gadwin Printscreen I prefer it instead. Gadwin Printscreen uses the PrintScreen button on your keyboard as the default button to trigger the program.
It's freeware and availiable from:

Irfanview is primo for screenshots!

- Choose between automatic shots on a timed delay or whenever you hit a hotkey. (Define the hotkey you want to use.)

- Define whether you want shots of the entire screen, just the active window (with borders), or just the client area of the active window (no borders).

- You can include the mouse cursor if you want.

- Each shot is saved as an image file (any type you want to use JPG, PNG, TGA, GIF...). The files are given sequential numerical names (shot001.jpg, shot002.jpg, etc.) and they are saved in whatever folder you instructed Irfanview to use.

- Take all the screenshots you want...and NO naggy watermark to deface your screenshots.

Irfanview is free just in case someone forgot. And most likely you already have it because it's such a great utility for so many other image file uses.
