Why not make a .porn for all porn

Some people say if we catagorize this then we should do that too all thing on the internet, because these other things are also "offensive" to some people. There is a difference though, as many of these porn sites do stuff like home page hijacking, spamming, and tons of popups. You certainly dont see sites in these other areas doing this.

But how often does anyone, especially kids, type in a domain name? The VAST majority of everybody that surfs the net does so by way of hypertext links. Clickity-click-click-click! All it takes is a single click and boom you're at www.morallyoffensive.xxx and you didn't type anything at all!

I just don't understand how putting adult sites in an "adult" domain is going to help anything. Convince me and I'll march with you...but as of yet I'm unconvinced.

I like the idea of making a .xxx category for "adult" sites, and I really liked what kopfjaeger had to say so far.

One thing I'd like to add though is a slightly different twist on how to go about it, at least starting it. The new category would need to be, at least initially, a convenient place for porn sites to be. In other words, porn sites would move there by choice, as it would make easier for their customers to find them. I doubt it would take long before the majority would make the switch.
