What law says pornography is illegal? No I don't have kids..and if you do - there's plenty of software available to do your job for you by keeping your kids out of such sites ... if you aren't a good enough parent to do it yourself.

Telexen,
nobody said anything about taking away anybodys rights, just making a .adult for the adult content. Everybody that wants it can go to .adult to get to it. Then the people who don't want to see it ( people who contrary to belief have rights also ) don't have to be subjected to it. It would make it so much easier to block the adult content some people don't want out of their system. People who still want it type in xxx.adult or whatever and boom they got it. No harm done.

there's more to it than domain names ... much more. Go ahead and great a new domain extension for adult related websites - but you can't stop anyone from registering any domain they want under .com, .net, .org, etc.

well, naturally such a discussion inevitably ends up here.
me being 36...still fairly young..but quite old enough to see how things have DRASTICALLY changed since I was a teen...amazing to me.
The world is headed in a certain direction..full steam ahead...it's true there is no stopping it, lol. But its amazing to me the amount of change just in the last 20 years or so...how some things have totally turned around..."values" and old fashoined things like that.
personally Id rather see things go in one direction or another..because double standards are so pathetic. for instance in europe the beaches are all pretty much topless and some nude. (I lived in Greece for 2.5 years, hehe). But here in America the public beaches arent that way.
Why not? The public internet is?
If a girl starts stripping in the school library, or her and 4 football players decide to study "anatomy" right in front of everyone, they get in trouble...but a kid can sit in that same library and look at the exact same scenario all day long??
I guess "absurd" can apply to lots of things.

Ahh, as I figured. Born the year I gradded high school...so your around 18ish. See your "reality" doesnt have much of a historic base to draw from. Its hard for you to see things "sliding" cuz to you its always been this way.

Why do you say things are headed in a bad direction?
Things like racism, womens rights, and the such have come a long way - and they're only getting better. Why must you take one thing and decided the world is damned because of it?
Edit: wasn't that expected ... I'm young, so I don't know anything. Right. I guess this discussion has to end here because your generation always has, and always will be ignorant to another generation's opinion - one who HAS grown up DEALING with these issues ... not just sat back and bitched about it.

Telexen,
If there was a law to help put website content in the right area .adult/.com and heavy fines for violators, then wouldn't that help solve a lot of the problem. Most legitimate places would comply. Those that don't would be fined and or shut down.
Also, what is it about the idea of a .adult that makes you think that it is wrong. We have .gov for government, .org for organizations. Should not everyones rights be protected?

lol "my generation"..well, youre probably right dude about the conversation ending..no offense meant...but youre not old enough to know anything yet about this generation or that one, lol. Or about a certain generation "always doing this or that" lol...you havent been aroundlong enough to know whats "always" been this or that. It takes time to get any sort of perspective on things. I am only BARELY old enough myself to have lived long enough to look back and see how things have changed. If one has a viewpoint that only extends back to clinton being president, lol...he aint got much perpspective to work from.
No hard feelings on my part, not putting you down at all. One part about being a man, or an adult, is being able to have an opinion and state out without getting too personal with the attacks and such.
Of course when I was 18 I also knew it all. I went in the USAF 2 months out of high school and went straight overseas etc....definitely wet behind the ears...but it gives me perspective now etc.
Until you get out into the "real world", living on your own, paying your own way etc..you simply have no weight to your arguments. And if one's "real world" is the internet....that's sad also.
Oh, and no offense bro, but at 18 you havent DEALT WITH much of anything ...hehe, your parents have DEALT WITH you, but you havent had a chance to deal with much yet. You'll get your chance though.
No hard feelings, JP
