They should make one for peeps like me and call it .prude...it would block both porn and "art". That would get us folks straight and then the free-speech type people could argue over the rest of it as to whether it is art or porn.

A lot of folks arent interested in porn or "art".

back to the library...imagine if I just wanted to look at a cookbook and in order to look at it I had to look and and then reject 5 porn books....? (pop ups etc, lol)

Or if in the cookbook section there were graphic porn books scattered in with the cookbooks, lol.

There should be some segmentation of it all so that a mere typing slip doesnt send little kids to places they dont need to be.

Thing is people can complain about it being art or porn all they want, but if it is offensive to children it should go on the adult site. They regulate movies and tv by PG or R or X and you can't walk into a library ( at least most librarys) to pick up a hustler or playboy or some xxx movie, why because commonsense says its not fit for kids and is adult material. Just do the same for the net. It sure would not be easy because a lot of people would complain, but we don't need a whole bunch of new laws, just carry over what we have in stores, librarys and places like that. I am sure there is a lot of art that contains nudity, but I can't think of any reason why kids need to be subjected to it art or not.

Trying to all of a sudden enforce such a thing to millions if not billions of site would be rediculously unfeasible, not to mention a waste of time and tax payer money

kind of like socialism, works/sounds good in theory.

yeah, its funny that in congress and courts of law, no one seems to know the difference between "art" and "smut"..but the guy buying the magazine at 7-11 knows the difference, lol.....and I doubt this site http://www.firak.com/Gallery/Paintin...s_Frameset.htm gets as many hits as the sites that spam us all. lol

porn= art from places that generate spam, lol

maybe better than "all of a sudden" having a whole generation of kids who grow up too quick.

Why does porn need to be removed from websites?

Isn't it their right to make porn and put it online? yes

Even if this was done, and software was made to remove anything with such an extension from the website, isn't that copyright infringement ? yes (what happened to MS with SmartTags?)

Isn't it the responsibility of PARENTS to monitor what their kids do/view online? Yes

Ridiculous ... don't try to take away people's rights.

lol, I knew this was coming. Where does anyone say anything about removing anyone's precious porn??

For my part I simply said there needs to be a way to SEGMENT the internet somewhat so that little kids dont try to look up book report info on the white house accidentally type in the wrong url and see more than they bargained for.

I cant see there being too many parents who can sit for 3 hrs a day monitoring their kids...nor does the average parent or user have a CLUE how to block access etc.

Lots of double standards happening right now. You walk into a store, they have the little cardboard thingys covering the front of the "adult" mags....but not on the internet.

It would also be nice if the porn lovers only would recieve all the porn related spam..since they are the ones who are into it.

Is full hardcore action available on any tv channel any time of the day???

Is it any harder for a kid to click a link than it is for him to flip a tv channel??

people pretty much have to pay extra to receive adult oriented channels on tv dont they? (im not sure, I dont watch tv nor do I have cable tv)

So how is it we saw fit to limit what is available on tv channels and we leave the internet wide open???

The local blockbuster video doesnt seem to be allowed to have hardcore xxx stuff....why not?? whats the difference between that and the internet having it available for all?? So there should at least be a way to segment it off.

Yes, I know the child porn dudes need to make a living also...and the beastiality people..of course we dont want to upset the beastiality workers union or anything...but there needs to be some way to "opt out" of such things for school networks, workplaces etc etc. Same as there should be ways to opt out of spam and telmarketers.

Besides. We all seem to be forgetting that kids arent ready to make all their own decisions yet...if you let a 12 year old make all of his own decisions, hehe....uhh, it wont play out too well.

You must think that pornographic images are restricted to PORN sites only - well..welcome to the real world. Do you want to restrict half of the internet? That's absurd

I am saying..they should be, lol.

The "real world" as you seem to define it, has only been around now for what 10 years or so? and in full swing for less than that.

The "real world" of the internet is clashing greatly with long established laws and traditions from the "other" real world that has been around for a bit longer.

you got any kids?
