Work I fixed my CDROM drive

my Cyber cdrom drive was freaking out eversince. the tray wont come out when i pressed on the eject button. in would open on the ~fifth time i press the button. and before I myself freaked out and threw the darn thing away, i decided to rip it apart and see what i can do...

have a look here:

http://www.pbase.com/daxbrandy/repai..._eject_problem

and so the Fix worked.. saves me a few bucks, eh.

Good deal Dax, I have been into a few to lube the drive worm gear and/or laser rails and locking mechanism.

How did you attach the plastic extender?...some type of plastic glue or epoxy?

I believe in most parts catalogs, it's call the "Level Mechanism Extender Thingie".

Radio Shack sells them in bulk, but you do have to cut off the long handle they're attached to. The handle is for ease of installation in tight places.
