Can't you right click a folder, on the sharing tab, make the foldrer private?

that was just an example... i know there's a utility in XP that allows you to modify many settings for different accounts, just forgot where it was.

If you disable simple file shareing you can view and change the NTFS permissions, with that you should be able to do what you want.

You can change permissions from group policy editor.
Start->run->gpedit.msc

thanks. just paid another visit to the policy editor.. didnt find exactly what i was looking for (suggestions?) but i did find something that really bugged me.

a while back i set the Account Lockout policy to '5' for all three settings and never got it to work. i would lock the comp and keep entering bogus passwords but it would never do its thing. any ideas as to what i did wrong?

From the help:
If lockout policy comes from domain, it overrides the local value.
Or something, that was a free translation

You did reboot after you set the change?
Changes in the group policy do not take effect until rebooted.
