Gaming Beep while checking RAM !

Hi all,

Sure this is a common subject...
I have an Athlon XP 1700 with 256 DDR RAM. ( Cheap Motherboard )

I hear continuous beeps while RAM is checked , to be precise I hear three different frequencies for about a second each.
Now, I understand this could mean a hardware incompatibility.
Does it has to do with the RAM itself, my useless motherboard or sth else?
Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanx for your time,

Sakis.

P.S. I often have problems with my USB ports (irrelevant ?)

At Home Welcome to Techimo

Check the beep codes associated with the BIOS used in your system at a site like this:

Good luck!

Without having another stick of RAM to check this against, you could verify if this is a problem with bad RAM, you could enable fast boot and skip the memory test. If you don't get the beeps, then you probably have some bad/incompatible RAM. I spent 8 hours trying to install an OS on a new system with a bad stick of RAM. Only found out about it after I disabled fast start up and the BIOS tested the RAM and reported it being bad.
