Half Life 2 Question..

Well I know most of u guys have read or seen some of the reviews and benchmarks that have recently come out about HL2, using the 9800 pro, 5900 U, etc.

I just have one basic question: Do u think that when HL2 comes out, and after ATI has released some new drivers, that I will be able to run HL2 on my 9800 Pro at 1024x768, with full details, vsync ON, and be able to get a constant 60 fps? Or do u think that with full details on, my fps will drop considerably?

Would it be a good idea and wait and get a new video card in the newar future? Or do u think the new video cards coming out wont give that much performance increase over my current 9800 pro?

Let me know what u think. Thanks..

Personally I would wait. Once we get nearer to the actual release of the game, more informative benchmarks will start coming out.

If at that time you realize you need a new card, you can get whatever card you were going to get now for cheaper. If it turns out that you don't need one then you save the money

I'm contemplating whether to get a 9800 pro right now.

I definatley want to play @ higher than only 1024. I want EVERY setting to the max. I watn NO LESS than 60 FPS. As it seems right now, NO CARD IN THE WORLD can provide that performace, and I find that a little odd.

Either some new video cards are going to re realses after HL2 that will dominate the game, OR (and I think this is the more plausable solution) both Nvidia and ATI and going to be warking 25/8 to optomize drivers fror the game.

Within the next few months, video cards aren't going to based on "pixel fill rate " or "piplines" or even "cooling". Videos cards are going to be based on one thing: HL2 Performance.

This makes the video card company's job very clear.

I would wait until the game is released, all the hype settles down, and new improved drivers are realsed, by both sides.
