Periferals:

Microsoft Natural Keyboard
SanDisk Image Mate Dual (usb)
Logitech Quick Cam Pro (usb)
Epson Stylus 777

Sound card: Sound Blaster Live Value 5.1
Speakers: Altec Lansing, Select 641

Direct X 9.0b
Vid Card: ATI Radeon 9600 (Catalyst 3.7)
TV Tuner Card: ATI-TV Wonder VE
Remote: ATI Remote Wonder v 1 (plus updated drivers)

Monitors:
Optiquest V95 (Primary)
Compaq P110 (Secondary) (10' extension cable)

The Question:
Is it normal with the Catalyst 3.7 to create extra monitors in Device Manager. Since installing the 3.7 drivers, the Device Manager is now showing duplicates of the monitors I have listed above.

As well, in Display Properties, Settings tab it is now showing my listed monitors as:
1. (Multiple Monitors) on Radeon 9600 Series
2. (Multiple Monitors) on Radeon 9600 Series - Secondary

Before the 3.7 drivers were applied:
1. Optiquest V95 on Radeon 9600 Series
2. Compaq P110 on Radeon 9600 Series - Secondary

Note:
1.) Before installing 3.7 drivers I tried to uninstall the older drivers. I got an "Uninstall Initialization Error".

I Uninstalled the ATI Control Panel and the installed older version of Catalyst drivers and applied the updated Display adapter drivers and the updated Control Panel software which is included and presented as an optional install in the update.

2.) When installing the Vid card and the TV tuner card, I installed the VID card first nad then the TV-Tuner card next. Everything was installed via the supplied CD's.

3.) The Remote Wonder was first installed from the CD supplied with the 9600 and then I applied the update from the ATI download site.

Extra:
A little glitch last night while I was watching TV on the Compaq P110:

I was in the Settings of the TV Tuner and was fine tuning my Favorite's by clicking on the found scanned channels and after a few channels viewed in this fasion, everything froze up. Here's what I found.

Regarding your questions:

These additional monitors and the extra display adapter are normal.

Here are the steps on installing your TV Wonder and ATI display drivers.

Download the following files onto your computer. We recommend that you download these files into a temporary folder you can create on your desktop by right clicking on the desktop and selecting "NEW" then FOLDER. Name this folder "ATI Downloads" and download files into this folder.

1. Software Bundle: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-...10735c-efg.exe

Contains:
Catalyst 3.7 Driver
WDM Capture Driver
Control Panel Software

2. ATI Multimedia Center for the TV Wonder: <http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/w...wonder-xp.html>

a) DAO/MDAC Component Package (required).

b) ATI TV-WONDER DRIVERS (required)

c) ATI Multimedia Center 7.9

Uninstall all ATI items from Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel. Remove all ATI Multimedia first then remove the ATI Display Drivers then reboot as prompted. Please make sure to remove ALL ATI items from the ADD/REM Programs before rebooting.

If you get any errors uninstalling any of these items in the list please click here for this issue documented on Microsoft's website.

Removing Invalid Entries in the Add/Remove Programs Tool (Q310750):
<http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q310750>

******************
INSTALLATION:
******************
Please make sure there is absolutely nothing running in the background during driver installation. It is recommended to disable all background applications.

IMPORTANT ===> Disable ALL background applications before installation !!!

1. Double-click on file #1 - (The Software Bundle) and restart once prompted.

CONFIRM FILE REPLACE in Windows XP: When installing Display Drivers or Software a "Confirm File Replace" message may appear multiple times during the installation. If you encounter a "Confirm File Replace" message while installing this display driver select the "YES" option to proceed. Selecting "YES" will ensure that all the components of this driver bundle will replace your existing driver components. This window may not come up at all.

Reboot as prompted

If you get any errors installing this bundled driver then you may install the display driver and ATI Control Panel as follows:

Manual display driver installation:

- Open the DISPLAY PROPERTIES panel
- Click the SETTINGS tab and then click the ADVANCED button
- Click the ADAPTER tab and then click the PROPERTIES button
- Click the DRIVER tab and then click the UPDATE DRIVER button
- Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), click next
- Select don't search. I will choose the driver to install, click next
- Select the Have Disk button, click Browse
- Open the following path

C:\ATI\support\ * \2KXP_INF\CX_xxxxx.inf

- Highlight the INF file, click Open, and click Ok
- Select your device from the list
- Follow through installation, DO NOT RESTART

* This will indicate the version of the driver you have downloaded

B: Install ATI Control Panel and select the REPAIR option if prompted.

RESTART when prompted.

In "Device Manager" remove (WinXP- Uninstall) ALL ATI related items(if any) starting with "ATI" under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers".

2. Install the DAO/MDAC Component Package
3. Install the ATI TV WONDER WDM DRIVERS
4. Install ATI Multimedia Center 7.9

===> Rebooting if prompted each time.

--------------------
Guide + installation - OPTIONAL
--------------------

You may now install Gemstar's Guide + by manually browsing the ATI TV Wonder CD and double clickin on the SETUP.EXE file in the following directory on the CD.

X being your CDROM drive letter; X:\Install\Gemstar\setup.exe

Setup is Complete !

If you still have the same hanging infinite loop issues then please try setting your BIOS as follows;
- Load optimized defaults in your BIOS and do not modify memory settings
- Set your memory settings to default values
- Make sure you have an adequate power supply
- Update your BIOS
- Disable AGP fast write

Test your machine.
Cheers!
