a7n8x-D bios question

I flashed my deluxe to the newest asus bios yesterday, which is supposed to add 400 mhz support for the 1.06 rev. The asus screen still says 333mhz, though. It's probably normal, but I just thought I'd check. Was it supposed to add any other features as well?

Thanks,
jme

Hey, thanks for this thread...

I have been needing to update my BIOS for quite a while, but never took the time to actually do it.

Thanks for the link, Strawbs!

I just downloaded the latest BIOS and flashed it while in windows, now I'm gonna restart, and pray that my computer restart...

Hey, hey, hey...

It works!

Thanks again for the link and the reminder...

jmebonner: Do you mean that when you start up, the first screen that shows just says that your CPU is running on 333 FSB? Or do you mean actually in the BIOS settings screen and the highest you setting you can see goes up to 333?

If it's the second option, then you probably need to change the CPU/FSB setting from Normal, Performance, or Aggresive, to Custom. Then you should be able to change the FSB

David,

I meant the splash screen type thing that asus has, the one with all the fancy swirled graphics.

Ok, well, it's just saying that it's running at 333 CPU FSB because that's what it's set at... You just need to change the setting in the BIOS if you have a 400FSB CPU that is.

Here are the things that changed with the latest BIOS for your motherboard:

1) Fix A7N8X system fails to resume from S3 when using ATI RADEON 8500DV AGP VGA card.
2) Add "Dual Channel mode" or "Single Channel mode" string on POST screen.
3) Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://www.asus.com.tw/support/cpusu...pusupport.aspx
4) Fix Win98 system shuts down fail if USB mouse legacy item in BIOS setup is enabled.
5) Fix large data transfer failed under Win2K and WinXP with hard disks configured as RAID0.

The Boot logo is an advertisement for the board, it doesn't mean anything once you upgrade the BIOS. You should be able to reach 400MHz without any issues if your RAM is pc3200DDR type.

You can disable the Asus logo in the BIOS ...so you can see the real specs while you boot.
