what do you mean your burner went out?
what os? what does it do? are you copying from your cds to your harddrive and then the cd drive just stops working? i dont see what it being a burner has to do with it.

but anything could cause it not working, media, cheap hardware, malfunctioning drive, corrupt files on the cd, anything.

if you accidently used a circular saw blade instead of a CD, it cound very quickly slice up your drive*cough-cough*
err...idk, could burners overheat?

Probably just the drive getting overheated. 21 CD's being read is a lot of work....above normal usage parameters I'm sure.

My Philips DVD/VCR stops reading DVD's if it gets too hot. I had to move it out of the sun and it works fine now.

I've noticed the DVD's are hot coming out of it, especially compared to my PS2 and my computers DVD ( pioneer ). I guess it really depends on how much heat the drive retains vs. how much it makes vs. the environment it is in.

I've never really been impressed by the Lite-ons... they seem cheaply manufactured, but thats just my opinion. I use an MSI DragonWriter that I've had for a year now, no problems what soever, no evident heat issues either

Well I have heard that you should wait a few minutes between burns to let the unit cool down. And burning 21 CD's in a row is a lot of work.
I have 2 year old lite-on that works great, and an old mitsumi 4x that works well also, but I never burn over 2 CD's in row.I have burned over 500 cd's on the lite-on,and only one coaster
