file sharing question

If someone I know, used to use Kazaa for downloading (what I guess would be considered illegal music), and since then deleted the files once he or she realized they were illegal; could they be sued. But they still have Kazaa downloaded. Is there a way for the people issuing the lawsuits to find out.

if the RIAA caught them when they did have them, then yes. anything is possible.

Kazaa itself is not illegal...downloading copyrighted music is.

Are tv shows considered illegal; and if you already own the cd is it illegal to have a song on kazaa.

It is illegal to share that song on Kazaa, not to download the same song you already have on CD. I'm not entirely sure on the TV shows, so I don't want to give an answer on that just yet.

If the RIAA got info from your ISP because they caught you downloading/sharing files on Kazaa, then they obviously have you. If they find downloaded tv shows, movies, whatever on there, that can't be included in their lawsuit because that's not why they invaded your computer to begin with and what is the real kicker is that they all all about MUSIC.

That's my junior lawyering skills, anyway.

TV shows are copyrighted as well. The RIAA AFAIK can't and won't touch you for those. They are mainly chasing around mp3 uploaders.

Alright but if the files were deleted a while back, or removed the the shared folder weeks ago, is it still a problem.
