Kids Build your own business mail server

Our current mail server services about 90 mailboxes. Furture expansion is not going to be very much. Our current mail server is getting old fast and does not have RAID. i am sure i could save some money buy building a custome system but i was wondering if there are others who have taken this path?

As long as i go with some good parts, i dont see this being a problem as far as server stability and reliability goes. Does everyone agree?

I agree. If its just a mail server, you should be able to build one rather cheaply.

Thanks for the reply zen. I am also wondering if, to service only about 90 mailboxes, i can just setup a single processor system or if i need dual processor. i will most likely be running Exchange 2003 Standard. I cannot imagine having more than 150 mailboxes in the next 2-3 years.

Single processor is fine for a mail server of that calibre.
