DVD-RW, 16x10x40x CD-RW ... ?

Fellow Members:

I am seriously considering installing a DVD-RW for storage and some fun with video capture on the side.

I saw a pair of extremes from this: Toshiba SD-R5002: 2x1x12x DVD-RW, 16x10x40x CD-RW with Ulead Movie Factory Software for $99.00.

To this: Plextor PX-708A Black: 8x4x12x DVD+RW, 4x2x12x DVD-RW, 40x24x40x CD-RW Burner with Roxio Software for $279.00. (I've always been a Plextor fan) and other models like Sony in-between.

I have not "looked around" a whole lot to compare other offerings ... Any suggestions?

Thx.

Brangwen

There are many places for resource comparison shopping, I would check out the tomshardware.com site for the "down to earth" skinny on the product you are considering. Then I would go to pricewatch.com and tigerdirect.com for the deals you won't find in Wal-Mart. There is always the OS compatibility issue to be considered. Although DVD-RW's are relatively new on the market alot are "not compatible" with XP, XPPro. Conflicts aplenty but fixable.
