Here's something strange
When I recently upgraded to Windows XP Pro, I had to update all my hardware drivers. I have a Santa Cruz soundcard, and a NVIDIA FX 5200 video card. No problem there. I was concerned about my legacy scanner. It's a Microtek E3 Plus, and runs through my parallel port. It's slower by today's standards, but has served me well, and it has a large scan bed, which allows me to scan legal size documents, which is important to me.
Microsoft provided a link where I could download compatable XP drivers. I installed them, and my scanner works great with XP.
What really surprised me, is that my Microsoft Sidewinder DOES NOT work with XP, nor is there any upgrades from Microsoft. Looking at their web site for game controllers, I got the impression that NONE of their gamepads work with any OS above Windows 98SE. What's with that? Looks like I'll have to dump my Sidewinder and go with a Gravis gamepad. No way I can play Madden 2004 without a gamepad.
Anyway, I thought it very strange that Microsoft didn't provide better drivers for their own hardware and software.
