Kids Subtotal function

In subtotaling data I want to only use the subtotals in other excell worksheets, but when I copy it gives me all of the data along with the subtotals. I am only looking for thesubtotals to put into another file.

thanks

Merton -- I'm not sure I follow you. Are the worksheets you want to get the data from withing the same Excel File, or are they in different files? Both can be done.

For the simplest case -- subtotalling numbers in different worksheets in the same Excel file, just pick the cell you want the results to end up in. Hit the equal (=) key, then use your mouse to select the first value in the other workbook. After it has been selected, press the plus (+) key, then use your mouse to find and select the second cell you want added. Repeat this until you've got them all, then hit the Enter key. Presto! You've got your subtotal!

Kids subtotal

The file is in one worksheet and it is data that list sales by state. When I hit the subtotal to see sales by state it gives it to me like I want it, but when I want to copy that information into a separate file it keeps giving me all the data that was subtotled. I want to take the dubtotal data and put it into a separate file for other uses.

Thanks
