Kids Laptop TV-out and sound

Aloha - I have a laptop and I want to hook it up to my TV so I can record some photo slideshows onto VHS tapes, BUT I need to know how get the sound onto the TV too so the slideshows I tape have the background music when I play 'em back on the VCR. If anyone knows how I can go about doing this on a laptop, please let me know. Mahalo (Thank you)!

Sure thing. Does your TV had A/V inputs? If so, just go to Radio Shack and get an adapter that goes from 1/8" stereo to RCA. Then plug that into the laptop's speaker/headphone out. Plug the other end of the RCA cable into your TV.

Although, thinking, that may not work if the laptop has an S-Video out. Could you tell us what sort of connectors you're dealing with on the laptop and on the TV?

Is scart used in the states? If it is, just get a scart cable that has 6rca's at the other end, hook them to the composite tvout of your laptop and line-out (you need a stereo->rca jack for this).

Work Got TV-out and S-video

Mahalos for the help =) I've got TV-out and a S-video on my laptop. As for scart, I haven't heard of it, but maybe it's just called something else here =) But thanks anyways =)

If you've got a normal single RCA coaxial video out, you can probably by one of those three line (made for connecting DVD players to TVs, etc) RCAs, the little adapter I mentioned, and use that with no problems. Of course, you need to hook them to the VCR, not the TV. My brain was taking a walk when I wrote the TV stuff.

What do you use to normally connect eg. a dvd player to your tv?
All the connections from external devices are made with scarts here.

Oops! Correction - I have a TV-out jack on my computer (no S-video, I was looking at the monitor port). Anyways, Mahalo!
