Scsi???????
I have a DVD-Rom and a CD-Rw. When I burn CD's it randomly stalls and says "Failed a 32x"
I have the newest firmware, and I can't think what is wrong.
When I looked abov, it said illegal SCSI command. I have no scsi drives...
When I look in device manager, it lists my drives, but says SCSI. WTF what SCSI!?!?!?
Windows XP all updates

Cetain ATAPI hardware and many PCI mass storage drivers are referenced as SCSI adapters within device manager. I recommend updating your ASPI layer, as this can generate SCSI errors.
If your CD-RW software vendor does not offer a ASPI update, then search on Google for ForceASPI.
BTW, if you have multiple IDE controllers, I recommend using removable media drives with the motherboard's southbridge chipset controller, not any RAID or SATA controllers that may be present.

Ok, that clarifies a few possible aspects of the error. You will likely need to install any CD buring (Nero, Adaptec, etc.) and DVD playback software (WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.) included with your drives, thus obtaining a full ASPI layer installation. The ASPI layer communicates the commands between Windows and the CD-RW's hardware interface.

I installed the demo version of Nero and that is what gave me the error. I installed CD-mate. Get error. Use windows to burn, just freezes.

Thx for the links. ASPIchk said I had no ASPI layer. Instlaled the latest ones, rebooted and tried to burn..
Same error. Through luck on google, I found an only '96 thread about someone who got the same error, and someone responded saying that error meant soemthing wrong wrong with the IDE connection.
I unplugged my DVD-rom drive which is usually the master, rebooted, and now I can burn cd's fine.
Maybe jumpers or messed up or soemthing... with have to take a closer look.
