Problems with my Fx 5200

Hello guys!

I recently bought myself a Geforce FX 5200 and have a problem i cant seem to get solved.

If i try to start a game using direct 3d graphics, it simply wont start. I get an error message, telling me, that a blabla .dll file cant be initialized and thus the task failed.

I have no problems with OpenGL supporting whatsoever. If i can switch to OpenGL the program runs smoothly.

Any idea what i can do? I have already installed the latest detonator (45.23 isnt it?), but it still doesnt work.

Best first guess would be to try uninstalling the Detontator drivers in the Add/Remove programs. Restart and reinstall them. Perhaps you've got something corrupted when you updated the drivers.

Beyond that, I don't know what support for D3D the FX series has. Are you running DX9 yet? Try to run the DXDiagnosis and see if it finds any bad files after you reinstall the detonator drivers, and you should also be able to see if D3D works in that same console.

kiddo, please complete your system specification. in that way we can diagnose the problem from inside and outside the video card.
what OS you got there? i agree with redfury there about the detonator drivers. i suggest the 44.61 detonator FX drivers from guru3d. i am currently using that version and got no problems with running 3d games in windows 2000 pro.

Ok heres my System specs:

Athlon XP 1800 +

628 MB DDR RAM

the already mentioned Geforce fx 5200

and my comp is running with Windows ME. Ive also got DX 9 already installed.

maybe you can start with reinstalling another version of the FX driver from NVIDIA. 44.61 is also WHQL and you have nothing to worry about. make sure you download the driver version that is compatible with ME.

and btw, do you have plans of upgrading to XP or windows 2000?
