My next case.

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...10ea985e5878c5

Ok folks, here's one for you. I've been looking for a full tower server sized case for a little while now, and I think I've found my first mod victim. This little puppy seems to have plenty of mod potential (it's practically NAKED!), so when I get the dough together, along with the necessary equipment (fan controller, a few more fans, probably grab myself up some plexi or lexan and do a custom window) I'll get started. I think now may be a good time to get that digital camera I've always wanted.

Plans include a new power supply (this vantec stealth 470W is just too darned noisy), a Gigabyte 7NNXP, the 2800+ Barton I currently have, a Zalman 6 channel fan controller, the Innovatek water cooling setup I have, the TwinX 3200LL 1GB memory I have, and a black-dyed Sony DRU-510A from Performance PC's. Just looking through PPC's catalogue, I've come up with about a grand worth of mod related equipment, including the case.

Any ideas you guys could throw at me as far as what could be possible with this unit would be great, as well as general impressions of the case itself. It's looking good to me, but maybe you guys can pick something up that may be a problem that I can't see. I've done minor mods here and there (mostly involving blowholes or fan cutouts) so I'm still a little fresh to the real hack and mangle modding that really stands out. I've seen plenty of stuff, and what I'm thinking about is two turbine-esque fan mods to the front, maybe with cathode lighted fans. Along with a square window on the left side (not full side, maybe a 1/2 or 3/4 window) and a smaller custom job on the right side lit with a different color (think that one Godzilla case, can't remember where I saw that one). I'm thinking maybe an Oldsmobile theme, with a rocket on the right side with a red light behind it, but not the rest of the case. Maybe a mirror black automotive paint job, maybe not. Have to see when I get the thing. So throw your suggestions and impressions at me! I'm going to be ordering the first wave of mod items in a week or so.

Thanks everyone.

Looks like a nice case to mod. Sounds like you have it pretty well thought through. Let us know when you get it, and how it's coming as you go. I'll try to post back with suggestions when I have some more time. You definitely want Plexiglass, not Lexan. I'm glad you liked my Godzilla case. Here's a link for it... Thanks guys for the responses. And thanks Idigguns for the linkage. I really dig on that writing on the other side of the case, it looks great. I thought it was someone from this forum who did it, and I'll look through your site for guidance.

I am kind of afraid to do anything to this case, at least before I get some practice in modding. I'm going to see if I can't get a couple cases dirt cheap, and install a window or two before I go crazy with this case. I really, REALLY don't want to mess this thing up, it'll be expensive to replace. And the money is kind of a problem for me, I'll only have enough right now to grab the case and maybe 200 dollars more worth of supplies (including cut-off wheels, fans, CCFL's and paint) and if I mess it up, it may be a few months before I'm able to do it again. Car insurance is due again, and I've still gotta pay the rest of my bills. It's not about the money, it's about treating yourself when you think you've worked hard enough to deserve it.

a good place for dirt cheap cases to practice on is the salvation army or goodwill.... they have old puters for like +/-$15, some work some dont... but if its just the case youre looking for why not?
