Ok folks, here's one for you. I've been looking for a full tower server sized case for a little while now, and I think I've found my first mod victim. This little puppy seems to have plenty of mod potential (it's practically NAKED!), so when I get the dough together, along with the necessary equipment (fan controller, a few more fans, probably grab myself up some plexi or lexan and do a custom window) I'll get started. I think now may be a good time to get that digital camera I've always wanted.
Plans include a new power supply (this vantec stealth 470W is just too darned noisy), a Gigabyte 7NNXP, the 2800+ Barton I currently have, a Zalman 6 channel fan controller, the Innovatek water cooling setup I have, the TwinX 3200LL 1GB memory I have, and a black-dyed Sony DRU-510A from Performance PC's. Just looking through PPC's catalogue, I've come up with about a grand worth of mod related equipment, including the case.
Any ideas you guys could throw at me as far as what could be possible with this unit would be great, as well as general impressions of the case itself. It's looking good to me, but maybe you guys can pick something up that may be a problem that I can't see. I've done minor mods here and there (mostly involving blowholes or fan cutouts) so I'm still a little fresh to the real hack and mangle modding that really stands out. I've seen plenty of stuff, and what I'm thinking about is two turbine-esque fan mods to the front, maybe with cathode lighted fans. Along with a square window on the left side (not full side, maybe a 1/2 or 3/4 window) and a smaller custom job on the right side lit with a different color (think that one Godzilla case, can't remember where I saw that one). I'm thinking maybe an Oldsmobile theme, with a rocket on the right side with a red light behind it, but not the rest of the case. Maybe a mirror black automotive paint job, maybe not. Have to see when I get the thing. So throw your suggestions and impressions at me! I'm going to be ordering the first wave of mod items in a week or so.
Thanks everyone.
