wireless network becomes unavailable

Here is my situation. I have just gotten dsl service via sbc, with a 2wire modem. I have a Toshiba laptop with an internal wireless. I can connect and get internet access via wireless, but only for a few minutes. I get a message saying a new connection has been found and it is connected to that new connection, but I have no internet connection. The problem is that I get bumped off my wireless at home everytime it finds a new conn. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Any help is much appreciated.

what are you using for a wireless transmitter?
do you have WEP enabled? what OS?

Yes I do have WEP enabled and I am running on Windows XP. What do you mean by wireless transmitter? I am using a 2Wire modem that is capable of wireless.
