Laptop Touchpad Question

I was just wondering, is it ok to use a slightly damp, soapy rag to clean off a laptop touchpad?

It is indeed as long as you don't drown it.

Seriously, no problem what so ever.

The rag was rather damp, but I only lightly touched it against the touchpad. It got wet enough that you could see streaks of water on it, but I didn't "drown" it.

I tested the touchpad it and it seems to work fine, I just need to calm my paranoia that I have about protecting my computer equipment.

Is anyone else this paranoid?

It's fine... just try to make sure that no water gets in through the surrounding cracks. If the cloth is just damp (not soaked) - no worries.

well ... how about you get it a little wet to clean it - then use a dry towel, or the dry part of the towel to dry it

I'd say to have your computer turned off, use a paper towel or toilet paper or tissue, and put rubbing alcohol on it. Then, wipe around with that. Let it dry. Turn computer back on

Although I don't suppose a little water will hurt anything, assuming you didn't use too much, that is.
