Systems So I download and install

star wars jedi acadamy and wow now my computer restarts itself and amazing I cant type in my admin passwd besides that I cant do anything. The hard drive makes a loud grinding noise while starting and theres the constant beeping until i move the mouse.

Sounds like maybe a virus was in that download I don't know.

Windows xp geforce 3 etc what do you guys think I really dont want to format again is there any hope?

Well hopefully you learned from downloading games online

can you boot into safe mode?

do you have any anti virus installed?

if you can boot into safe mode, i suggest downloading http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php from another machine and install that

see what it can find

or you can put it into another machine (you might risk infecting the other machine) and scan with

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

see what it finds

I am running norton systemworks 2003 and everything seemed fine at first. I went to play the game and i get the error cannot opengl drivers error so I went to find a fix and thats when the machine shut down. As far as downloading the demo I got the website here from another thread and they said the game was great and was really fun the only reason I even downloaded it, normally I don't. So i'll try what u suggest thanks for any help.

ok tried safe mode blue screen with white box thats it. Virus? or possible hardware failure? Any advice appreciated

what are the rest of your system specs? if you it shut down while working it could be two things

1. blue screen (winxp automatically restarts the computer)

2. your motherboard has heat protection on the cpu
