Don't consider anything less than 300W from a AMD approved PSU vendor. It's just not worth the risk. When a PSU goes bad, it can take the whole system with it. The K7S5A is known for being especially picky about power supplies.

Maybe you should change the thread name to show the truth of what happened - "Cheap PSU died and took mainboard with it", instead of the misleading and badmouthing "Another K7S5A dead"?

Food reply to psu problem

I agree 300w amd approved-Nothing less...
I am no electrician, but you may have more problems than just the psu-If you put a 300 w on there and the board won't post it is probably dead-The psu's could have kept frying because you motherbaord is shorting out this can happen when using a case that doesn't support your boards form factor for example a flex atx board will fit into an atx chassis but ALL the hole mounts wont match up-the unmatched hole mount could be touching the back of the mobo causing it to short out which will eventually if not immediately bake your board and could cause you psu to fry as well....hope this helps.

oh, one more thing...don't give up on building your own pc just cause you've fried a board or component-You can always start over-sell wahtever is salvageable on ebay to get some of your investment back...good luck

take the time to read your manual for the ecs board. They specify no less than a 300watt psu for correct operations. As stated by DRF...cheak for shorts(between board and case wall usually) Be sure none of the board is touching anywhere except where the 2 main screws connect to he case... If it has been shorted, expect to be buying a new mobo and psu.

Ive dealt with almost 200 k7s5a boards in the builds and have now after many mistakes just gotten to understand their "crankness"

Good luck!
