Media My XP Pro Upgrade is on its Way!

I ordered the XP (Academic version) Pro Upgrade from Newegg this morning. $81.00, plus free shipping. I kicked in the extra $2.95 to have it processed today, and when I got home from work, I had an email telling me it has been shipped. Should be here Thursday.

I also got my MCI DSL package today. It feels good to be back in the fast lane. I switched from Verizon DSL to MCI, when they offered a much better package. The only bummer, was going back to dial-up for nearly 2 weeks. I don't know if it was harder on the kids, or me

I want to thank all the members who gave me advice on the Windows upgrade.

Robert

One neat little tidbit...

That academic "upgrade" disk will do a clean install of WindowsXP Pro

I would back up your personal data to CD and do a clean install, then put your data back onto the computer. You will virtually eliminate any upgrade headaches

I know from experience that this will work because I've built a few systems for local college students and had them order WindowsXP from the college bookstore, along with Office XP Pro.

Thanks for the tip Kuasimodem. I'm already in the process of backing up :-) I'm really looking forward to this new OS. I've been using Windows 98SE for a very long time. I rebuilt my system just a couple of weeks ago from the P3 I built nearly 3 years ago. Getting XP Pro will finish my rebuild (for awhile )
