Kids Radeon 9800 Pro and Zalman ?

I have a radeon 9800 pro. I replaced the fan with the passive unit HP-80 A (zalman). My card becomes very hot after 10 minutes. I can't put my hand on it for 10 seconds, I would have burnt my hand.
Is this normal? Should I change to the zalman HP-80 C with the extra silent fan?

It's supposed to be hot like that. It's all normal, you don't have to worry about it. I suppose it wouldn't hurt if you got the fan attachment for it. I got the ThermalTake Giant II, and it's active cooling with a little fan, and it's a nice little attachment.

active cooling is always better than passive, lowers your temps.

Add the Zalman fan. Should do what you need and is not expensive.

I have a friend with a 9500 pro, with the Zalman and no fan it gets hotter than hell, but he has no problems. After he added the fan he was able to overclock it from the default 275/540 to 390/640 and it's cool as a cucumber. His 3dMark 2003 went from 3600 to 4600. I would highly recommend a fan for you, even if it isn't the Zalman, you can get another fan to attach to it.
