I've been trying to watch a few dvd's on my p.c but the sound is terrible, when the people on the film say there S's it's all distorted and horrible but when i play the movie on my normal dvd player the sound is fine, it's not with 1 film either it's all of them.

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried different players? If not that would be the first thing I would try,
to see if it’s a software problem. Give Global DiVX Player a try it’s free & works
well on slower computers.

Your computer is a bit slow for dvd playback.
Even more if that 466mhz is a celeron processor.

Sound scratching usually, however, means that the volume is set too high. Eg, you yank the 100000wat $2 speakers to maximum.
