What does the "CRC Failed" error mean?

Do ya know?

Sometimes my zips get that.

It means that the cyclic redundancy check of the file has failed. Meaning, the file is not an exact copy of the original, meaning a tcp packet has been corrupted during the transfer, meaning entire file/some files inside are unusable.

And there's no way to fix that?

The files ran fine awhile ago, now they have that Cylic Thingy and I can't access some backed up stuff.

No Scandisk for files I assume?

Usually you see CRC errors in modem downloads/uploads... a good error-correcting modem is supposed to detect CRC errors and re-send the data.

Try re-downloading the file.

If this is occuring when you are zipping files, then something else must be going on... maybe a mildly corrupted zip program file is causing errors?

Local files might get corrupted because you move them around alot on a bad fs (eg. fat32), or you've overclocked your processor and the ide channel can't handle it anymore.
