i spent the last hour trying to figure out why this new system im building for a friend wouldnt boot from the cd-r. i found out the 52X lite-on wouldnt boot off the new xp pro install cd. it would say " boot from CD" but would never say " press any key to boot from CD" like ive seen in my past experiences. the floppy is problematic i know so i didnt bother with booting from it. i also know the cd is fine.
i should have known this right away since ive dealt with this issue before! i had to boot from the lite-on 52x32x52 cdwriter in order to get it going. my question is...............WHY???? brand new hardware no less. oh well, at least its working now off the cdrw but still its pretty annoying.
yeah my fault, i should have mentioned i did, and i even had each cdrom seperately connected(2 different times) as master on the 2nd disk controller. only time it worked was with the cd-rw
nevermind. i swear man, this is a new egg experience i wont soon forget. first i have to RMA the case. that took a week and a half. now the reason why it wouldnt boot from the cdrom is THE CDROM. you can take this thing and turn it upside down and you hear moving parts falling inside it!
i sure as hell didnt drop it and it came with a ton of bubble wrap. just makes it worse im building it for a friend in florida and i talked up new egg so much due to all the good luck ive had. this sucks. i sure hope i dont have to scream for a refund. this is being finished and sent out. im not waiting for a new cdrom to come to me.
