A7N8X Deluxe pcb 2.0?

I'm planning on purchasing the refurbished A7N8X Deluxe from newegg but they don't garauntee if it's the pcb 2.0 or the earlier version. is there a bios update to make it pcb 2.0? i also heard that not all pcb 1.0's are messed up, some actually work with 400fsb. are there any other advantages to the 2.0 revision?

I'm considering the very same thing. I'd like to find out myself. It's between that board, the FIC board for $79 and the Soltek board for $83....I haven't decided if I want to take the chance on getting a dude board...

I'm really looking mostly for a board with a redundant Bios.

I believe only the 2.0 will support the newer Barton AMD CPUs, the older version will not support Barton.

I'm 99% certain it's a hardware change, so probably can't upgrade the BIOS for that.

i'm 99% sure that you're wrong about the newer ones only supporting the barton's. lol.

You're right, my bad

It's the Nvidia change, not the CPU change that prompted version 2.0.

The following is taken from http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx...var1=26&var2=0

"Do All Revisions Of The NF7-S Motherboards Support The New 400MHz FSB?

Thankfully, ABIT will offer official 400MHz FSB support with all revisions of the ABIT NF7-S motherboard. And why not? After all, the only difference between Revision 1.2 (or older) and Revision 2.0 of the ABIT NF7-S is the use of a new stepping of the NVIDIA nForce2 chipset.

However, a BIOS update will be required for the older revisions to "officially" support the new 400MHz FSB. This is more than just updating the CPU table. Apparently, the new BIOS will feature some tweaks as well. So make sure you get the BIOS updates when they are released if you want to fully support the new 400MHz FSB processors. "

According to the reviews' for the board on NewEgg, the majority of people have been getting revision 2.0 boards for the last few months.

There is no way to upgrade a 1.xx to a 2.xx revision.

The revisions 1.04 and 1.06 can be updated to support 400fsb. (Virtually no one sells anything below 1.04 anymore)

advantages of 2.0? It might overclock a little bit better.. not much else.

If I recall, they give you a 15 day return window. I don't know if asus adds anything on to that or not.
