Properly Installing IE6??

Hello

Everytime I install IE 6 on my computer (since i built this comp), i get errors all over the place... script errors pop up on IE, and in the control panel... it messes the whole computer.

Im using windows 2000 sp3, and using IE5 right now...

whats wrong?? since the day i built this, IE6 would never seem to install properly...

is there a trick to doing this?

thanks

eryk

Why bother with IE6? Its not a necessary update IMO and you will need to download many many updates for it anyways. Internet Explorer 5 is good enough, or if you really need to change get Mozilla or Opera, but IMO IE 6 is a waste of time and specially for you since it is giving you errors. I wouldnt suggest IE6 for anybody who doesnt have XP already, since it isnt that great compared to the other. But again, this is only my perspective of your situation

I agree, stick with IE 5.5 SP2 or go to Opera or Mozilla.

Can you use Encarta 2003 with Opera or Mozilla? If you can then you should get these browsers. If not then I really have no clue what's happening with your IE6. Maybe if you install Service Pack 4 which is out for Windows 2K you can install IE6 without any errors. Have you already tried to format your computer, install Windows 2K and try to install it again? For me the format tool is my friend Always helps me in urgent situations. Hope this helps! Good Luck

Just get Opera. Opera has a setting where it can identify itself as IE6.

There's only 1 site that isn't fooled by Opera - buymusic.com

Okay, but if you really need it then why dont try Shawn's idea? The site for downloading Opera is www.opera.com There is a free version, and actually Opera isnt that bad IMO. Check it out! Just my opinion
