Has anyone tried mepis out yet?
Ive been reading some pretty good stuff about it, but the server is based in europe and i havent been able to get a decent connection to it. Every time i try to download i max out at about 28kb/s and then the connection slowly drops off till i loose it completely and have to restart.
Just wanted to hear from any of you guys if it was worth the trouble of getting it. Texstar seems to like it, or at least if he doesnt like it, he hasnt said anything bad about it or that he doesnt like it which he normally would do.

I tried Mepis and my boys still use it from time to time. It is a really good live version and makes it etremely easy to install it to the hardrive. There is an icon on the desktop for easy installation. I happen to like Mepis better than Morphix or Knoppix, but, that is a matter of "feel." I can't point to one difference that makes it better, it just felt good, if that makes any sense.

As for download speeds, I don't remember it being that slow for me. On the homepage there is a list of different mirrors that you can use. Have you tried them all? If you find a good mirror and want to install it to your hardrive, don't forget to get the optional second cd. It has allot of good apps on it and is well worth the download.

they've only got two mirrors, one at ibiblio which had the old version until this afternoon and the other one in venice i believe. Ibiblio has the updated version now though and im downloading at a pretty good clip now.
