Poll: TCP overhead

This is kind of a poll, but without premarked answers

I'd like to know what kind of tcp overhead you guys get, and have you been able to up the transfer rates at all.

Earlier I had a 256/256 adsl connection, with what I got a steady transfer rate of 26,7kB/s (9,6% overhead).
Currently I have 512/512 adsl connection, with transfer rate of 53,2kB/s (9,6% overhead).

Well let me clarify this.

My current line is rated at 512/512, which in kBs is 64/64.
The real transfer speed at maximum is 53,2kBs.

Ooops! My original calculation is very wrong

This is the correct calculation ->
Real speed divided by theoretical speed
In my case, 53,2/64=0,83, 83% of the theoretical speed is used.

And that's 17% overhead, not 9,6 like I originally claimed.

//edited the calculation.. I just can't seem to get it right

I would love to let ya know... But unfortunaly for me its impossible to tell...

The way my cable plan works is i get UNCAPPED download speed (so whatever the cable network can give me, i've had downloads at over 1MB/sec, yes i mean megabytes), but i only get that till i hit my download limit... At the moment thats 3GB per calander month (i really need to increase that... I've pretty much hit the limit for this month already). Once i hit the limit they capp the connection to normal 28.8kbit modem speeds... doh!!!

Ahh so yeh.. Because i don't have a "max speed" i couldn't even begin to workout the TCP overhead...

I spose once i get capped i could work it out from there based on a 28.8kbit connection..
