What is good about a Mac?

What are some good things about macs?

We only ever hear the bad side of macs; I want to hear the good side this time.

Please don't say anything unless you've personaly experience it. For example, don't say "well I heard they have good support with hardware".

They have RISC processors which means that there is more power per MHz compared to a PC.

We have a couple older macs at work, and I can honestly say they make very good doorstops.

You could say that about any old computer. Its not the Mac part that makes them doorsteps. Compared to a Pentium 1, the 20 to 80 MHz Macs kicked ass in processing power benchmarks.

I think they are made well for an oem manufactuer. compared to dell or gatway.
of course you do pay for it.

and the new g5 cases are pretty slick with the thermal zones.

imo

Hey it just so happens that I just went into an Apple store today...here's what I noticed just browsing through the rather sparse, white store...

I have to say that the new G5, and most Apple products are really nicely designed and just look and feel very sophisticated. They're flat panel monitors are incredible. The OS is actually very nice too...it's much smoother than Windows...the animations...like when you click on something in Windows, the animations - like the hour glass - tend to be jerky depending on what's going on in the background, but on the Mac OS, menu animations and icons were really slick and smooth...never missing a beat no matter what was going on in the background.

I didn't notice that they were too much slower, despite the processor being nearly 2 GHz slower than a high-end PC...

I could not get used to just the single button mouse tho...

Well, that was my Apple experience for the day... overall, it was a good one ;-)

Actually the PowerPC's really do make better doorstops because the monitor it's 1 big unit. It's as heavy as a PC and monitor but it's just 1 piece

To tell you the truth, you don't have to. Macs are able to use your standard USB mouse. If I took the mouse off my computer then put it into a Mac, both buttons and the wheel would work.
