advice on memory selection

I'm planning on the following purchase:

Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard
Athlon XP 2500+ Barton

I am going to buy two sticks of 512mb of ram but I need some advice on how fast, what brand, and cheap place to buy from!

So should I go with pc2700, 3200, 3500? (I have heard that if you have the 2500+ you can overclock to the 3200+ speed so whichever ram speed is best for all that).

I also want to find out the best brand I should go with, and of course the cheapest place to get this from. thanks so much!

I'm getting the exact setup

Same mobo and chip, and this is the Corsair memory I'm getting:

If you're going to overclock the 2500+ barton to 3200+ speeds then get PC3200 or faster so you can use a 400MHz memory bus.

I just picked up some corsair value PC3200 DDR from newegg.com . I am having no problems with it and it was inexpensive. Watch out for the generic ram. Some sticks don't even work at their rated speed.

Stick with PC3200 if you can... better overclock potential for the Athlon XP 2500+ and you're ready for a 400FSB XP 3000+/3200+ (or higher) when prices eventually drop.

Corsair is currently considered to be the best but if you want to save a few dollars you could try the OCZ PC3200. Some people actually prefer it over the Corsair. I'm running OCZ 2x256MB PC3200, Dual Channel on an A7N8X Deluxe with no problems at all. Sorry, I'm in Canada so can't really recommend a good place to buy it at.

Corsair. I'm running two sticks of PC3200 in dual mode. Love it!

many people would probably advise you to stay away from this... but i got the same mobo running w/

geil pc3200 golden dragon 1gb... rock stable... memory likes more volts and its better if your not a first time builder cause their tech support sucks

the ram doesnt use chips, its wafer style... its cool
