how do i OC pentium III 700mhz?

Question:

How or can i overclock a pentium III 700mhz cpu?

Any info would be great thanks!

Depends on your motherboard. what motherboard do you have? Some boards won't let you change the clock speeds.

thanks Kc2iLq..that site helped me determine i have a piece of crap board here...woohoo..well that board is gonna make it to techimo's trading lots...hahaha

You're welcome.

At that site they said that they had an engineering sample board with a very early bios though. See if you can't flash it up a bit and utilize some features of the chipset.

It's a little different for each board, but you generally need to start with the first flash and progress in order to the most recent. Otherwise, you may corrupt your bios. Check this site out: http://freepctech.com/pc/001/006.shtml .

You usually only have to flash to the latest BIOS.. It's OK to skip some.

Generally, you want to flash your BIOS as infrequently as possible to minimize the chances of anything going wrong because if something goes wrong in a BIOS flash it can make your board stop booting.

Since the multiplier is locked, the only way you could overclock is to up the FSB. RobRich wrote a book all about overclocking.. I'm sure you could find a copy somewhere online if you were looking for instructions in book form
