Figured it out, it was a jumper setting

Lol...there are only a couple of ways to set the jumpers.

Either set the hard drive to "cable select"...and if anything else is on the cable it has to be "cable select" also

Or....set the hard drive to "master" with any other drive on the cable set to "slave" or on some drives if there is only the hard drive on the cable you set the drive to "single".


If you think the problem may be jumper related...just see what jumper settings you have..and try it the other way, lol.

Or, post your jumper settings...get your flashlight out.

Thanks for the reply. Doesn't matter. I have a single drive and experience the problem on CS or master. I started experencing this problem after d/l of window xp updates. Can;t find a solution yet. Reading through another thread that a person was expercing the same problem after d/l window xp updates but no solution. Still looking......

I completely removed the jumper plug or whatever it's called.
