Is PCI faster than firewire and USB 2.0?
I was looking at an external hard drive that takes either USB or firewire. I currently only have USB 1.1 so that means I would either have to buy a USB 2.0 or firewire adapater that plugs into PCI. I know firewire is a lot faster than USB..... but I only know that when it's integrated into the motherboard. When it's plugged into PCI, I'm not even sure if it would run at full speed; I'm thinking maybe the PCI speed would bottleneck the firewire.
So now the big question, is PCI faster than USB 2.0 and firewire?

PCI is faster then firewire or usb 2, because usb and firewire bandwidth is measured in megabits so the 480megabits of firewire is only abut 60 mb/s and PCi has like 133 mb/s so there's plenty to spare.

PCI has to be faster than firewire or usb.

PCI is faster than both of them, I was going to say the exact thing as what Neo said, but he was faster

your nornmal average 32bit 33Mhz PCI is 133 mb/s, then there's 66Mhz and 64bit versions, which im not sure what there bandwidth is, but im sure someone will come along with the math for that.

Regardless of weather or not you get an adapter card, or its built into the motherboard, its running off the PCI bus in both instances.
