Outdoors Microsoft is trying to Attack!

I was at my friends house a while and he uses Norton Internet Security. When he was surfing the web, I was watching the TV and I hear laughing and screaming. I went to his room and I ask him what happened and he tells me this:

"Microsoft tried to enter my computer with a Trojan Deep Throat, in fact Norton called it 'Very High Risk' "

He got all this from a feature called "Visual Tracking" where Norton finds the attacker and tells you information. It said that the attacker was from the US, California in a city called Redmond in the Microsoft Network. I couldnt believe what I was seeing, I mean Microsoft trying to screw your computer up is pretty unbelievable. My friends closed the window, I would really like to have proof, but Im sure that it said Microsoft. It even said their IP address. I really got dissapointed I mean what if many people are getting attacks from Microsoft and they dont even have a firewall. Well, actually I was dissapointed but my friends couldnt stop laughing, I told him to send this information and sue Microsoft if its actually them maybe it can be another crazy person getting in Microsoft's network. Well, I just wanted you guys to know and be aware ...

Is it a legal version? I've often wondered if MS doesn't try to sabotage people's computers who have a cracked version. Can they?

Send a message via AIM to embj Send a message via Yahoo to embj
hahaha!!! You know it wouldn't surprise me at all. I mean they lied about Windows Update not taking information from your computer.

Also, you should know that Redmond is Washingoton...not California so....

Could be 2 things

1. Its a spoofed IP (very possible)

2. Its just some jerk on the MSN network (most likely) and the connection goes through MS (proxy server possibly.... depends on how MSN works)

Actually it said Redmond, but in the map it showed California.
I really dont know what happened or who tried to access my friends computer, I only know that it said and claimed to be the Microsoft Network, In redmond (why California I dont know) with an IP that started with 69 I remember. It could possibly be what Vass thinks, but what if it is actually Microsoft that just needs to "inspect" your computer? Well, really strange indeed

I guess people with firewalls and NAT routers must really annoy MS is they do try to get into peoples PCs.

It might just be something that the os uses to send info to ms. Even if it is, I don't want ms knowing anything about me.

He got the same attack again, same IP address and all.
Now I told him to investigate this and send this information to someone, he wants to sue Microsoft now (my friend). I told him to wait for that since he is not sure if it actually is Microsoft who is trying to access his computer or just a script kid. Im starting to have my doubts. Its a total legal version of Windows XP Home, and my friend is getting scared of that maybe Norton doesnt block all the attacks made. He told me that sometimes his CD-Rom opens without him touching it and like out of nowhere. Im really getting worried with his case and I have noticed when I surf on his computer (which I actually do a lot ) that his internet has been very slow lately. I actually feel sorry for him since he can't change his IP and he already blocked the attackers IP address but what happens when he does this is that he can't access pages such as Microsoft.com etc. I wonder what to do...
