It means the system will reserve 64mb of the system's RAM for video memory.

Shared video memory means that there is an onboard graphics chipset, but no onboard video memory. It uses regular system memory for graphics use. This slows down both system performance and graphics performance, and requires more memory to be added to the system.

Also, on most motherboard you can limit the amount of ram that the onboard graphics use and I do agree with CowofChaos's statement. I think nForce2's have GF4 MX440 graphics built in so they are quite nice.

The dual channel doesn't require 2 sticks of ram to function, but it does need 2 sticks of identical specifications to utilize the dual channel capability......

These boards are an excellent choice for a machine that will be used for word processing, web surfing etc. If the main use will be to play games than this video may not be adequate. I would recommend one that has onbaord video but also has an AGP slot so that you could install a seperate video card later if needed. I have a Biostar M7VKG that has onboard video but also has an AGP slot.

You should just get a good asus or abit motherboard and get a geforce2 mx or a geforce4 mx. You could do that for under $100
