change the boot sector filesystem?
right now i am running a Lilo dual-boot of Windows XP and Mandrake Linux. Unfortunately, i managed to accidentally rewrite the bootsector of the Windows XP partition so that it claims it is FAT16. It is actually NTFS.
The only partition program that i could actually find to run on a boot floppy said it was a conflict of filesystems on the XP partition, the partition table said it was NTFS whereas the bootsector said FAT16.
I have tried using the XP cd and using the command "fixboot", but that was what got me in this problem in the first place.
Also, my XP partition is no longer set to be "active", this changed during the linux installation.
Is there any way i can change what the boot-sector is reporting manually, or is there a way i can change which drive is active from Mandrake Linux?
Thanks!
