AIM problem again

We recently got rid of AOL and now we can't sign on for a period of 6 months with AIM and those screen names, just in case we wanted to re-activate them which would never happen. Is there any way around this or program that would help me get around this? It just seems like AOL is making this a hassle, I mean we paid for AOL for over 5 years and now we can't use those screen names? And I can just register for free for other screen names. I had my buddy list on those screen names and I lost that cuz I thought I would still be able to sign on with AIM. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Your stuck. when you had them on AOL you were paying for them, and AIM is a free service. THe only thing you can really do is call them and complain about it.

You should have also saved the names in hard copy cuz AIM has the save buddy list option only, I think.

Err ... are you the one who asked about this before? If so, I forgot all about the thread after I asked her - I'm sorry.

My girlfriend apparently had no problems connecting to AIM after she dropped AOL - it was her email she couldn't get to for a couple months. You should probably call AOL and ask them about it.

You can keep your screen name only if you register the name with AIM BEFORE you dump AOL. If you cancel AOL first, you're SOL.

How do you register your screen name with AIM so that you can keep the name even after u cancel AOL. I want to cancel AOL asap. Thanks
