Did you put a very thin layer of paste, or a thicker layer?
And, not to insult your intelligence, but the fan is blowing in, not out, correct?

it's not just a "paper thin" amount you need to worry about. It can (and should) be thicker than that, not much more, make sure there aren't any spots in the middle where maybe the heatsink was slid across and there's only traces of the compound.

Is your board running hot or your processor? It's confused by the thread title. Besides from that, whats the environment like around your PC? If the environment is hot then your gonna have hard time lowering temps. If the comp is in a cabinet or something you don't have airflow for the fans.

P.S. - IMO MSI is a bad board. They burned me too many times.

Do you have any issues with stabliity?
Maybe the temperatures sensors on the board could be screwed up?
Wishful thinking but it just doesnt seem possible they would be that high.

anyone else have ideas?
