Asus P4P800 2.8 ghz, low scores.
Howdy there!
I've got a P4P800 system that I put together about a month ago. It's having
a few video problems, mainly in a game Dark Age of
Camelot, the video "catches" and stutters in high graphics areas. We were
having problems in other games, such as Battlefield 1942, where the video
would just crawl, but that seems to have ended...
Also, on boot up, the system will display Odd Characters on the boot screen,
or have black bars down the entire screen, partly obscuring the ASUS splash
boot screen. This happens about once every 10 boots or so.
I've replaced the video card with and exact duplicate, and the same thing
happens. As a desperate quick-fix type thing I swapped out the system
memory, and the same video problems still persist.
I have run Sandra on the system, and on the Memory Bandwidth test, the
scores seem very low against the other reference scores:
2471 and 2469....
Also on the System performance test for Sandra, I get errors like SMBios DMI
info may be inaccurate. AGP BUS unused, AGP Data rate not optimal. I
went into bios and fiddled with the AGP Apeture size, but didn't notice any
difference.
3dmark benchmarks the system at a little over 10k, and I've beat that with
default settings on my P4PE system with a Geforce TI 4400.
Oh and the Asus System utility program constantly beeps about the power
supply fan, even though the power supply fan is working, the system utility
says it's not.
I'm wondering if mayhap I could possibly have something misconfigured in the
BIOS, or if it sounds like I have a bad board. I'm pulling out my
hair on this one.
I have installed the latest Asus Bios, and also the latest
Intel Chipset drivers utility.
