Geforce 4 MX420 go problem

Hi,
My Toshiba laptop is running a
P4 1.6Ghz, 256 Mb DDR Ram with Windows XP Pro.

I cannot run any games with video. It minimizes them and wont let me open them again or gives me error messages depending on the game. GTA3 and GTA Vice City both minimize on entrance.

I have been into the dxdiag and tried running the tests. DirectDraw tests run fine but the Direct3D tests close instantly and says that I hit a key.
Im getting really annoyed so please help.

running the latest drivers for the video card from the manufacture website? (for you, you will use the drivers from toshiba)

also do you have all the latest patches for the video games

Just Downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the laptop graphics card. Everything is still the same.

The video games have the latest patches.

The error messages I mentioned before says
"Could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your video card and drivers are compatible with directdraw."

grab The Updated Detanator driver For Nvidia fixes that and a few other bugs also fixes bugs in midnight club 2
Theres a special 3rd Cd {un-official} been made for vice city and theres a dvd version in the making aswell check out screen shots of the cd rom and the upcomming dvd in to pages here

Thats The Detanator Fx driver not the basic nvidia update

Hi Guys,
After no success for so long I gave my laptop's harddrive a format and reinstalled everything bar automatic updates from Microsoft. Everything is working beatifully now, thanks for all your help.
