Systems Which graphics card? FX5200 is poor

Hi,
Im running a
P4 3Ghz Hyperthreading
1536mb DDR 400Mhz parallel ram
Geforce FX 5200
100gb harddrive
Windows XP

I have been finding that my system is actually quite pathetic at games. Im guessing that the FX 5200 is the bottle neck so have decided to upgrade.
The Radeon 9800 pro looks good but I keep hearing that the FX 5900 is better. Which graphics card should I get? I dont mind spending a few $100 AU if i get a decent one.
Thanks

Here's a good link for some sidw by side comparisons on the latest vid cards.

http://www17.tomshardware.com/graphi...714/index.html

I suppose it really depends on wether your a ATI or nVidia fan.
Personally, I can't see spending that kind of money on a vid card that will be worth half of what I paid for it in 6 months.
I still run GF4 4200 cards and i'm happy with the performance for the money.

personally, i would get the 9800, i dont see a need to go over all the reasons why, wood's link pretty much goes through that, but the 9800 is cheaper and it goes neck in neck with the 5900...so i say go with the radeon.

Also, if you want to save some money, pick up a 9600 pro, and overclock it, imo, that is the best way to go. poopyhead just did a good article on it.

I would really be in your position right now
And your system is a monster one I must say. I also agree that spending that amount of money in a video card is not necessary but of course its IMO. If you really are going to spend your bucks and you need to choose between those cards, I would get the Radeon 9800 Pro since that card is pure horse power and a bit cheaper than the Nvidia. I really prefer ATi although I myself use a Nvidia, but I really dont play games so I guess its okay for me. I am sure you will get satisfied with whatever you choose between those cards sionce they are the most powerful in the market today, but remember after 1 after you buy those carsd one better will show up, this is always like this. Hope this helps! Good luck

Thanks for the link. I think ill go with the Radeon 9800 pro. Im planning on keeping the card for at least 2 years even if I just move it into a slower comp and get a better one after a year.
$100 AU = $100 Australian
Thanks for all your help. Tough decisions aren't they!
