Heads up Epox 8RDA+ owners
NewEgg no longer carries the 8RDA+ . They sent me an email telling me that after a couple of days in the RMA dept, my money will be refunded because they no longer stock the motherboard I RMA'd. That is good news to me because I've read a lot of complaints about this particular board from Epox having boot issues either on receipt or after a short period of time.
Of course, now comes the question. You knew it was coming didnt you...you smart person!
Now what do I do? I've got about 80 to spend on a replacement mobo, and I'm beginning to thing that I may just stray back to the Via based boards. I'm thinking Asus to complement my Asus GF4....

Probably. I included in my reason for returning the board a note that I had built 6 systems with this board and the last 2 have been RMA'd back at least once each and that I had noticed on quite a few message boards that people have been having the same problems I had and then some! Perhaps they listened?
Matte of fact, I'm pretty sure they listened ( not to me specifically necessarily ). That's the way NewEgg works though....they keep only quality products goin' through the doors. I wish everyone operated that way.

Wow, I just RMAed this board as well because of boot issues. Did they refund your shipping? I'll probably go with one of the Abit or Asus nforce2 boards.

Really. I researched this board quite a bit and found it to be very stable and quite friendly to overclocking! I love this board...

Hmm...that's very odd. I got my board in May and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Maybe it's just the newer versions that Epox has come up with.
I've had great experience with it except overclocking but, I blame that on my cpu.

Don't know if I'll get reimbursed for shipping or not. I have to wait til Mon/Tues and see.
The boards that have worked for the systems I've built with them run great! Just the last 3 I've had, 2 were bad.

Well, you probably won't get reimbursed for shipping. I didn't when I sent back my dead ECS K7S5A Pro. I got an 8RDA+ instead of that.
They might though seeing that they are discontinuing it.

Crap, I searched the whole internet for which board to get, and this was the best one! I ordered one for my firend, and he got a versin 2.0! I was so jealous because when I ordered mine the same day, I got a 1.1. I was gong to sitch him. Should I. Are the 2.0's the ones that have problems?
I heard the 2.0's let you change the voltage to the northbridge. The 1.1's only supplied the NB with like 1.4 volts so anything past 200mhz FSB the board wouldnt boot.
I can volt mod the thing, but that requires a lot of skill and if the 2.0 boards had a setting for it, it would be so eaiser. Should I stick to my 1.1 (which I haven't opened yet) and just volt mod it instead of trading for my friends 2.0?

I'd say go w/ a refurbed a7n8x dlx for 69.99 from newegg. I'm running one now. You can get the accessory kit from asus for around $20 shipped. VERY nice board, great for my overclocking endeavors so far. I had it up to 2600+ for a while on the 1700+ chip, running 2400+ right now though.
