Microphone Problem with counter-Strike

Ok, comp..
Windows XP
sound card : creative sb live! value (wdm)

This is the problem, When I am playing Coutner-Strike The mic is extremely crackly and maybe the first 5 sounds are understandable then the rest is just unberable to hear,
any advice or knowledge on how to fix this?

What motherboard do you have? Have you run the the Voice Tweak program located in the C:/Sierra/Half-Life folder? Also try disabling EAX in the CS configuration menu.
