Leadtek Winfast 2000xp audio problem

After upgrading the driver's and software several months ago, when I watch tv periodically the sound cuts out. To get the sound back, I either have to restart the program or cycle through the input source. Leadteks website advises to uncheck Norton's antivirus's auto check of messenger. Did that... didn't work.

I've removed all of the driver's and the program. Then re-installed them. Still has the problem. Sometimes it cuts out after 45 seconds, sometimes 3+ minutes.

When the sound cuts out, I can check my sound card's graphic equalizer and it shows no sound coming into it. That leads me to believe that it is a problem with the Winfast card / driver / program.

Also those with this card the background in the program's control panel changes color... I don't think this happened before.

Windows Messenger is another potential cause. There may be other documented causes if you search on usenet or www.

*bump*

I've figured out by watching the processes in the taskmanager that it is msmsgs.exe that is causing the audio to cut out. Thanks shrae! I actually disabled it and then watched it pop back up thus killing my audio. POS. I did another google and found several places that tell me to START --> RUN --> services.msc and disable it. I've disabled it under the General tab and under hardware profile in the logon tab. It is a persistent thing... It is still starting on its own. Any other ideas?

Finally got it figured out. I had to disable that service like I did. Then in Norton Systemworks I had to disable Auto protect under the Instant Messenger tab for Msn messenger and Yahoo messenger. Without disabling it in Systemworks, Norton SW actually starts that service. Geez all this just to capture tv programs...
