IE 6 Installation Problem

I have been trying to install the Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 but keep getting the following message:

Setup was unable to install all the components. Please close all applications and try running Setup again.

I have checked 'continue with installation' and 'restart from beginning' but to no avail.

Could someone assist me in getting this loaded

You must have something running in the background. Try shutting down your virus scanner.

u have to shut all programs down, press ctrl +alt+ delete, and close all in xp,

I forgot to mention in my first post that I did turn off all programs, after trying to install it the first time. I had Zone Alarm and McAfee Online running during first install attempt. It came back with the aforementioned error message. I turned them off and did ctrl-alt-del to make sure the only two items running were Explorer and Systray. This is when I did the 'continue with installation' and 'restart from beginning' but to no avail.
